Art and Science. Science and Art. ....Cake and Death!

So... looks like I'm starting to specialise as a science artist, or a Scartist, as I like to introduce myself to people. Generally, they think I have just sneezed on them.
Anyway, I've had to illustrate some science articles recently. Click for a closer look.

This one was a background image illustrating the Magnus Effect that allows soccer players to bend their balls around corners.

...and this is an illustration of the principles of lift....

... and this is Pascal's Principle of Fluid Hydraulics... or something.

Print is dead....

Some more stuff for HIP2B^2....
Made these usingold fashioned printing type. So actually, I had to flip these images over, so that you can read them... printing type being mirrored!
Quite a mission to do this, I had to use a tweezers to position the letters, the "Print is Dead" type below measures just over a centimetre across.

Soccer Art... a little squashed!

Ok, finally got round to putting this up... been putting it off for ages!
So I did this job for HIP2B2 Magazine, which is a South African science mag aimed at school-goers, run by the first African in space, Mark Shuttleworth. Basically it was a series of illustrations for articles revolving around soccer. So here they are... KAPOW!

For some unknown reason blogger is squashing my pics :(... so here is a link to it on my flickr site: http://www.flickr.com/photos/redswift/4679826995/
